Easy Ways to Resolve Wifi Issues on Windows 8,9,10,11

Wifi issues are one of the most frustrating issues you can come across. Wifi issues mainly occur because of software problems. The chances of a hardware issue are minimal. Since modern computing and daily tasks rely on the internet, being cut off from the wifi halts productivity. This article mentions easy ways to resolve wifi issues on windows 8,9,10 and 11.

Check the basics

  • Make sure the wifi is turned on. If the wifi is turned on, ensure the airplane mode is turned off.
  • Keep the device close to the access point or router. If the network name is not visible, it should be manually added.
  • Restart your modem and router. Unplug the power cable and wait for 30 seconds before restarting. Some modems and routers have inbuilt batteries. Remove the battery and put them in again. Please wait until the router’s indicator lights reach their original state.
  • Check if the problem is with your modem or internet service provider. Go to the start button and the command prompt by typing cmd or pressing the windows key + R. Type Ipconfig and click enter. Note down the IP address after the default gateway. At the prompt, type ping <default gateway>. If the ping is successful and you can’t connect to your internet, there might be a problem with the ISP or your modem.

Windows is inbuilt with an internet troubleshooting tool. To use it on windows 11, Open settings->system->Troubleshoot. Click other troubleshooters and select internet connections. Click “Run” to detect the network problems.

Select Uninstall device or update driver. Restart the laptop once the changes are made.

  • Type netsh winsock reset and enter. This command resets the network settings to default.
  • Enter the command netsh int ip reset and press enter. TCP/IP will reset to its default settings.
  • Press enter after entering ipconfig/release – This sends a command to the DHCP server to release the IP address.
  • Type the command “ipconfig/renew” and press Enter. This command requests a new IP address.
  • Press enter after typing ipconfig /flushdns. The command clears DNS records from your cache.
